Who We Are

Bridging research, practice, and real-world impact across global food systems.

Our Story

Responsible Innovations began as a project focused on helping organizations navigate tradeoffs in food system change and adopt responsible, people-centered approaches. Over time, our work expanded into research, training, strategic advising, and the development of tools that support more equitable decision-making.

Today, we operate as a global network of experts working across research institutions, development organizations, and the private sector. We specialize in social equity, gender integration, responsible innovation, and the co-creation of solutions with farmers and communities. Our team brings experience across Africa, Asia, Latin America, and North America, helping partners generate insights, strengthen capacity, and design programs that advance more sustainable and resilient food systems.

Our Mission

To ensure that innovations in global food systems are responsible, equitable, and grounded in evidence, supporting outcomes that benefit communities, farmers, and ecosystems.

Our Vision

A world where innovation centers people and social equity, strengthens resilience, and contributes to sustainable and inclusive food futures.

Our Collaborative Model

We combine research, training, and partnerships to help organizations adopt responsible and equitable practices. Our core team manages the RI Expert Network, conducts social science research, and develops tools and methods that support responsible innovation.

This work feeds into three program areas:

  • Research: generating evidence and insights to inform decision-making

  • RI Academy: building capacity through training and participatory methods

  • Private Sector Partnerships: helping companies integrate responsible innovation into their supply chains

Through contract research and fee-for-service collaborations, we support sustainable, scalable impact.

Meet Our Team

Our team includes researchers, facilitators, gender specialists, and systems thinkers with experience across global food systems. We partner with universities, NGOs, and private sector organizations to bring responsible innovation to practice.
